Team 508 Participates in CyberPatriot
XI State Round
Last
Saturday the Team 508 CyberPatriot group competed in the state round of this
year’s competition. Images included Windows 10, Windows Server 16, and Ubuntu
16. The Cisco portion of the round included a quiz and Packet Tracer. Our
cadets did much better on the forensic questions than in the last round,
finding correct answers to all.
Cadets worked their way through the current
Windows checklist but came up short on points for both images. CyberPatriot
does not provide answers to images during the competition round and it seems
that many issues are not addressed in the training modules so we think we found
ourselves not knowing what we did not know. I find this to be frustrating as a
coach.
Unfortunately
we ran into hardware problems that prevented us from starting on the Ubuntu
image until there was very little time left in our 6 hour window. We did fairly
well with the Cisco quiz but did not participate in the Packet Tracer
challenge.
Final scores
will probably not be available until early next week. Given some of the issues
we faced, I am not optimistic that we will qualify for the semi-final round
scheduled for next month. As they say, there is always next year…
